Description
Spin-on fuel/water separator for 1994-1997 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke (and the International T444E it shares with), replacing Motorcraft FD4595 and FD4595A. The Fleetguard FS1298 mounts in the OEM-style HFCM bracket on the frame rail and removes water and particulates before the fuel reaches the injection pump. Note: this is the early-design pre-strainer/separator — 1999 and later Powerstroke trucks use the FF5418 instead.
Signs You Need a New Fuel/Water Separator
- Filter minder gauge in the red, or restriction warning on the dash
- Loss of power, hard starting, or rough running under load
- Excessive smoke or hesitation when accelerating
- Water in fuel light illuminated
- Fuel filter past its service interval (manufacturer recommends 15,000 mi)
