Description
PAI 801160 is the 180 degF (82 degC) primary thermostat kit for Mack MP7 / MP8 and Volvo D11 / D13 engines, supplied with the matching housing seal (PAI 831022 / Mack-Volvo 21503575) so the joint can be resealed in the same service. It replaces Mack and Volvo OE numbers 21412639, 21613426, and the superseded 20560249 and 21237213, and is the standard primary-thermostat opening temperature for the MP7/MP8/D11/D13 cooling circuit.
Signs You Need a New Thermostat
- Coolant temperature stays low and the engine takes a long time to reach operating temp
- Coolant temperature swings up and down on the dash gauge instead of holding steady
- Engine overheats once warm because the thermostat sticks closed
- Cab heat is weak or slow to develop in cold weather
- Visible coolant seep at the thermostat housing (replace seal at the same time)
